Osteoarthritis AKA Degenerative Arthritis affects 20 million people in the US alone. Treatment can include medication and exercise as well as total joint replacement. This course will begin with an overview of osteoarthritis and provide the health care professional with joint replacement pre-op and post op care.
Objectives:
1. Define osteoarthritis and relate treatment options.
2. Determine factors that progress a patient to a total joint replacement option.
3. Describe the pre-operative teaching and preparation for the patient undergoing total joint replacement.
4. State the risks involved in total joint replacement.
5. Discuss post op care including anticoagulant guidelines.
6. Describe the rehabilitation process for total joint replacement.

If a participant misses more than 10% of an offering, which is two or more hours long, a certificate of attendance will not be issued. Unless otherwise specified, partial credit will not be awarded for this offering. On one-hour offerings, the entire fifty minutes must be attended to receive a certificate of attendance. An attendance monitor is on site at all times.
