We're back, ladies!!! After a two-year hiatus, a local tradition returns on Wednesday, October 12. Coffey Health System’s 28th Annual Women’s Health Conference begins with a 5 p.m. social hour in the Burlington High School commons area. Presentations begin in the theater at 6:30 p.m.The Women’s Health Conference combines lifesaving information with a fun atmosphere. Women of all ages are welcome. Admission is free, but advanced registration is requested. It's easy to do, just call (620) 364-2121 Ext. 4174 or click on the link below. “Goody bags” are available for the first 250 women registered. “We’re excited to welcome everyone back,” said CHS Marketing Director Tracy Campbell. “Since our last event in 2019, Coffey County Hospital has added new wellness services including bone density scanning, low-dose lung cancer screens, cardiac scoring, and body composition scanning to name a few.”These new services create a “one-stop wellness” approach that allows women to schedule their mammograms, bone density, and other exams in one visit.Of course, the women’s conference will also highlight information about breast cancer detection.“One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, so it is vital that women understand the importance of mammography and that they know the facts about breast cancer,” explains Lead Mammography Technologist Lynn Bolen. “We encourage women of all ages to know their family history and learn about risk factors of breast cancer.”
