Lunch & Learn: Alpha Gal Syndrome, Tick Bite to Meat Allergy

It’s prime tick season, and a single bite can now lead to a serious, potentially life-threatening allergy and tickborne disease called Alpha Gal Syndrome (AGS), sometimes known as “red meat allergy” or “tick bite meat allergy.” People with AGS can have a serious allergic response, such as difficulty breathing or anaphylaxis, after eating red meat or other products that contain alpha-gal.

Join us on Friday, July 31, to learn more with Physician Assistant Paige Meats at Coffey County Hospital. The presentation begins at noon in Allen Woods 2 Conference Room. Participants will learn about the transmission of AGS, signs and symptoms, diagnostic testing, foods patients should avoid, and advances in treatment options.
