The Outpatient Infusion Department is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. Evenings and weekend appointments are available to help you get the treatment you need at times that are convenient for both you and your family.

While some infusions may take only a short amount of time, others may take several hours. We welcome and encourage our patients to bring games, reading material, homework, knitting/crocheting, or MP3 players with them for their infusion. Wi-Fi is available for patients and their family members.

What is an infusion?

An infusion is where a medication or solution is given into the patient’s bloodstream. This is done by inserting a small needle and cannula called an IV (intravenous catheter) into a vein. This is similar to a blood draw but instead of removing blood, medication or solution is administered.

What is an injection?

An injection or a “shot” is where a medication is given directly through the skin and into body tissue with a needle. Some medications are required to be given in the subcutaneous tissue while others are required to be given in the muscle tissue.

The Outpatient Infusion Department is located within Coffey County Hospital. Enter through the Emergency/Outpatient Entrance on the west side of the hospital for registration. We ask that you please bring photo identification and your insurance cards with you for every visit.
